She was an encourager and cheerleader, and brought so much joy to all of us who knew her. My dear, Arlene, you will be missed!
I wrote the following poem in May of 2000 in honor of her:
ARLENE
A poem honoring Arlene Grothaus
by Lola Cain
Like sunshine in the morning
as it chases off the night,
The lilt of Arlene’s laughter
is the sound of pure delight.
Like a shower in the evening
dispelling summer’s heat
Her presence in a room
is a fragrance fresh and sweet.
Like flowers in Spring’s garden
or a bird upon the wing,
Her love is a bouquet
and her grace a special thing.
“To know her is to love her.”
is a phrase that’s tried and true;
I’ve penned these words so I could say,
“Arlene, I do love you!”
