It's About Rejecting God

 A Case for Rejecting R-74
By:  Rick Forcier

As the many years of campaigning to bring homosexual “marriage” to Washington State comes to an apex—Ala Referendum 74—I remain fully persuaded that codification of illicit same-sex relationships inevitably leads to attacks against religious beliefs.

Catholic Charities in Boston, for instance, was established in 1903 to primarily serve Catholic children left by parents who died or abandoned them.  The charity became the state’s largest private adoption agency for the next 103 years—until Massachusetts enacted a domestic partners law.  Told they must adopt out children to “gay” couples or close their doors, the charity was forced to choose the latter.

Jon and Elaine Huguenin, a Christian couple in Albuquerque own a small photography business.  For refusing to photograph a lesbian “commitment ceremony,” the New Mexico Human Rights Commission found them guilty of discrimination under state anti-discrimination laws, and ordered them to pay $6,600 in fines.

The Christian-based Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association underwent a year-long investigation by the state’s Civil Rights Division following a complaint of discrimination.  A lesbian “couple” had intended to hold a civil union ceremony at the private Boardwalk Pavilion owned by the Camp Association, but were turned away.  The New Jersey Attorney General quickly moved to revoke the association’s charitable organization status.

Marcia Walden, a licensed associate counselor, was fired from a government contract for following her profession’s code of ethics.  Sensing a personal conflict between her religious convictions and an individual seeking same-sex relationship counseling, Walden referred the client to another counselor in her office who did not share her religious beliefs.  Although the lesbian client admitted the second counselor was superb, it didn’t change the outcome.

And, in recent years, the Christian Coalition of Washington has submitted numerous examples of attacks against the moral beliefs and policies of The Boy Scouts of America and the Salvation Army to state and local legislative bodies.

It is no stretch to say that public tolerance for homosexual perversion inevitably results in government leaders who are radically pro-homosexual and will go to war to defend the rights of gays.  The Bible gives ample illustrations of whole communities gone awry.

The Apostle Paul observed that “Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves [sometimes translated in their bodies] the due penalty for their perversion.”  But he also warned Christians that homosexual perversion spreads as a result of a culture that exchanges the TRUTH of GOD for a lie.  (Romans l:25-27)

The truth is, R-74 is not about monogamy, it’s not about equality, and it is certainly not about “marriage.”  It’s about rejecting God and His divine order.

Please REJECT R-74!

A STORY WITH NO WORDS - FROM AN EMAIL FORWARD

Have you ever read a story with no words?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ELDEST BROTHER!

I can't believe my brother, Duane, is 76 today.   When I called and sang 'Happy birthday' to him this morning I told him he should sing '76 Trombones' on his morning walk!  The crazy thing is:  he isn't old yet.  I know it will inevitably come, but he is so full of life that the number seems out of context.  Happy birthday, big brother.  Genetics made us siblings, but we made us friends!
* * *

I have been a little caught up with politics lately - - to my discomfort and dismay.

In August of 2009 God spoke to me and said, "I want you to contend for what I contend for."  I asked for clarification multiple times as I considered what He specifically meant.  Finally, the morning of May 18, 2011, God spoke to me and said, "I contend for Truth.  I contend for man's souls."

Man in this sense is mankind, not a gender.  And God contends for us, and wants me to follow in His footsteps.  So - - - that is why this political 'thing' gets a little dicey for me.  I don't want politics to get in the way of the higher good -  - and yet, the reality of truth (and the apparent lack of it in multiple cases) in politics creates huge issues for me.

There is no rule about truth in advertising when it comes to politics.  There should be!

What I do know is that there is truth in God's Word, the Bible, and the following verses pop immediately into my mind:

"The wage of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord."

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light."  (Jesus speaking)

"Draw nigh to me and I will draw nigh to you."  (God's promise to us.)

"In this world you will have trouble but take heart:   I have overcome the world."

"There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end thereof is the way of death...."

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life, for God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

He didn't come to condemn - - but to convict.  Conviction gives us the opportunity to repent.  Repentance turns us away from sin and toward God, eternity, and eternal life with Him!

"He came that we might have life and have it to the full."  And that complete fulness will come with our entrance into an eternity in His presence!

After slogging down here through issues that shouldn't even be being voted on because they are so blatantly in violation of God's laws, heaven is looking better all the time....   Still I hold onto this world, still clinging to the hope that we can turn things around and have a little longer for people to repent and accept the Lord as Savior....

Truth is first and foremost the Truth of God's Son - - that God Himself took on the form of a man (God incarnate) and came to earth to live among His created, to ultimately become the blood sacrifice sin required....

So - - I grapple with how much to say or not to say in the politics of our day.  I champion truth - - first and foremost God's Truth, and as a reflection of that, truth in general.  I believe we are being lulled into a complacency  that will destroy us!  I also believe that the Bible doesn't place the U S A as a power in End Times events, which means that we will ultimately collapse...or more likely, implode.  I just don't want it to be now!

What I can count on is that God has it all in His very capable hands.  Ultimately His Will will overrule the will of man....  His Kingdom will come.  His Will will be done - - on earth as it is in heaven!

THE CHANGE WE'VE BEEN PROMISED IS SOCIALISM!

We were promised 'change' when President Obama took office.  What we have learned in the intervening years is that the change he champions is Socialism  - - and for the United States to submit to International Law above our own laws.

He came into office claiming to be a Christian - but nothing he has done so far supports that claim.  He even abandoned the annual "National Day of Prayer" celebration at the Capitol.

Yesterday I posted an article written by a man named Mychal Massie.  I'd never heard of him before - - but I checked him out online and found that the article was correctly attributed.  I felt his view was worth passing along for others to consider, and I sent it as an email forward to all of my family, and several friends, in addition to posting it on my blog.

Most of the responses I received were positive, though one wasn't.  I thought I was sending it to people who'd agree with me, and that it would just be a nudge to be sure to vote if we care.... I misjudged that with one friend.

One of my concerns is that the 'change' that has been promised will come because of apathy and the failure of thinking people to get out and vote!

I am disillusioned with politics in general - - but believe we still have to try!  Sometimes a vote is for the lesser of 2 evils.  Sometimes it is against an ideology that could destroy us.  This year that is what we face.  I also believe that if you don't vote you don't have a right to complain.  So I vote!

One of the people who responded to my email forward said a lot I won't reprint here, but this statement impaled me:

"I have heard every word that comes out of his (President Obama's) mouth, and every word is rooted in communism and socialism.   I know because I have heard it all before.  When the military comes to the HS, middle schools and elementary schools to take our children’s textbooks and replace them with communist and socialist propaganda then it will be too late. I hope it doesn't get to that, but I believe that’s where we are heading."

This friend lived it.  My friend's country of origin became Communist.  My friend lived through Communism, and states, "I know in my bones what type of "change" this president has in mind for this country.  I wish people would wake up, look past the confusion, the smokescreen that's there only to camouflage the real intentions of this man...."

Anyone listening????

AN ASSESSMENT OF THE OBAMAS BY MYCHAL MASSIE

Today is my day for passing along political commentary it appears....  I copied this from an email forward - - checked him out online, and found this to be properly attributed.

Mychal Massie is the former National Chairman of the conservative black think tank, Project 21 - The National Network of Black Conservatives; and a member of its parent think tank, The National Center for Public Policy Research.

This specific article entitled "Why I Do Not Like The Obamas" was his Daily Rant column on February 22, 2012....

It is thought provoking and needs to be paid attention to.

We have been deceived by a smooth talker who does not have America's interests at heart!

BEST SUMMATION OF BARACK AND MICHELLE EVER

part1.00010806.01050008@silverstar.com

Mychal Massie is a respected writer and talk show host in Los Angeles .

The other evening on my twitter, a person asked me why I didn't like the Obama's?  Specifically I was asked: "I have to ask, why do you hate the Obama's?  It seems personal, not policy related.  You even dissed (disrespect) their Christmas family picture."

The truth is I do not like the Obamas, what they represent, their ideology, and I certainly do not like his policies and legislation. I've made no secret of my contempt for the Obamas.  As I responded to the person who asked me the aforementioned question, I don't like them because they are committed to the fundamental change of my/our country into what can only be regarded as a Communist state.

I don't hate them per definition, but I condemn them because they are the worst kind of racialists, they are elitist Leninists with contempt for traditional America.  They display disrespect for the sanctity of the office he holds, and for those who are willing to admit same, Michelle Obama's raw contempt for white America is transpicuous.

I don't like them because they comport themselves as emperor and empress. I expect, no I demand respect, for the Office of President and a love of our country and her citizenry from the leader entrusted with the governance of same.  President and Mrs. Reagan displayed an unparalleled love for the country and her people.  The Reagan's made Americans feel good about themselves and about what we could accomplish. Obama's arrogance by appointing 32 leftist czars and constantly bypassing congress is impeachable.  Eric Holder is probably the MOST incompetent and arrogant DOJ head to ever hold the job.  Could you envision President Reagan instructing his Justice Department to act like jack-booted thugs?

Presidents are politicians and all politicians are known and pretty much expected to manipulate the truth, if not outright lie, but even using that low standard, the Obama's have taken lies, dishonesty, deceit, mendacity, subterfuge and obfuscation to new depths.  They are verbally abusive to the citizenry, and they display an animus for civility.

I do not like them, because they both display bigotry overtly, as in the case of Harvard Professor Louis Gates, when he accused the Cambridge Police of acting stupidly, and her code speak pursuant to now being able to be proud of America.  I view that statement and that mindset as an insult to those who died to provide a country where a Kenyan, his illegal alien relatives, and his alleged progeny, could come and not only live freely, but rise to the highest, most powerful, position in the world.  Michelle Obama is free to hate and disparage whites because Americans of every description paid with their blood to ensure her right to do same.

I have a saying, that "the only reason a person hides things, is because they have something to hide."  No president in history has spent over a million dollars to keep his records and his past sealed.

And what the two of them have shared has been proved to be lies.  He lied about when and how they met, he lied about his mother's death and problems with insurance, Michelle lied to a crowd pursuant to nearly $500,000 in bank stocks they inherited from his family.  He has lied about his father's military service, about the civil rights movement, ad nausea.  He lied to the world about the Supreme Court in a State of the Union address.  He berated and publicly insulted a sitting Congressman.  He has surrounded himself with the most rabidly, radical, socialist academicians today.  He opposed rulings that protected women and children that even Planned Parenthood did not seek to support.  He is openly hostile to business and aggressively hostile to Israel.  His wife treats being the First Lady as her personal American Express Black Card (arguably the most prestigious credit card in the world).  I condemn them because, as people are suffering, losing their homes, their jobs, their retirements, he and his family are arrogantly showing off their life of entitlement - as he goes about creating and fomenting class warfare.

I don't like them, and I neither apologize nor retreat from my public condemnation of them and of his policies.  We should condemn them for the disrespect they show our people, for his willful and unconstitutional actions pursuant to obeying the Constitutional parameters he is bound by, and his willful disregard for Congressional authority.

Dislike for them has nothing to do with the color of their skin; it has everything to do with their behavior, attitudes, and policies.  And I have open scorn for their constantly playing the race card.

It is my intention to do all within my ability to ensure their reign is one term.  I could go on, but let me conclude with this.  I also condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the media for refusing to investigate them, as they did President Bush and President Clinton, and for refusing to label them for what they truly are.  There is no scenario known to man, whereby a white president and his wife could ignore laws, flaunt their position, and lord over the people, as these two are permitted out of fear for their color.

As I wrote in a syndicated column titled, "Nero In The White House" - "Never in my life, inside or outside of politics, have I witnessed such dishonesty in a political leader.  He is the most mendacious political figure I have ever witnessed.  Even by the low standards of his presidential predecessors, his narcissistic, contumacious arrogance is unequaled.

Using Obama as the bar, Nero would have to be elevated to sainthood.... Many in America wanted to be proud when the first person of color was elected president, but instead, they have been witness to a congenital liar, a woman who has been ashamed of America her entire life, failed policies, intimidation, and a commonality hitherto not witnessed in political leaders.  He and his wife view their life at our expense as an entitlement - while America 's people go homeless, hungry and unemployed."

A Re-post from John MacArthur

I am taking the liberty of posting an email message I received today which addresses how critical this election is....

Happy Valentine's Day

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness..." Romans 1:18-19

This is a new day in our country. Parties which used to differ on economics now differ dramatically on issues that invade the realm of God's law and morality...
[One party platform] advocates a homosexual marriage, which is an oxymoron, an utter impossibility, and a gross violation of the law of God. And then, to add to that, the murder of abortion, and then a platform originally leaving God out. All of that's Romans 1, [which] says God will judge, God has judged throughout human history, nations that experience sexual freedom. Romans chapter 1 lays that out clearly: the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against those who advocate sexual freedom, sexual conduct outside of marriage. And that's an indication of the demise of a nation...

Romans 1 also says that God will judge... nations that advocate homosexual behavior, men with men, women with women, doing what is unnatural. They are also haters of God, haters of God--leaving God out, advocating abortion, advocating homosexuality, advocating free sexual conduct and government-provided condoms so that everybody can do what they want. That is literally creating a platform out of what God hates.

This is not about politics, although there are things we could talk about: You're not voting for a pastor, you're not voting for a spiritual leader, you're voting for someone who has some sense of morality. Since the Bible says that the role of government is to punish evil doers and protect the good, you better have somebody in power who understands what is good and what is evil. And if you think homosexuality, abortion, sexual freedom, hating God are not evil, then you better go back and check your Bible again. How can people with that kind of agenda protect those who do good and punish those who do evil? That's Romans 13's definition of the role of government. We could talk about foreign policies, should we protect as many defenseless people from evil aggressors as possible? We could talk about economics, Is it right to get into irreparable debt? Is that responsibility? We could talk about that...

We get all caught up in the politics of this election. That isn't the issue. There are things vastly more important than that, than personalities. It's about whether this society exists in the future at all, as we know it. The land is so defiled, God will spew it out. First He abandons it, and then He destroys it... "Don't practice any of the abominable customs which have been practiced before you, so as not to defile yourselves with them." Why? "I am the Lord...You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy." He's saying to His people, you have to stand against this. It's a shocking thing when this becomes the agenda to support.

WE NEED EXPERIENCED LEADERSHIP

October 9, 2012, Olympia, WA:
I have gathered information from stories I have received and compiled them into this document to be sent to voters throughout the U S A - - but if you know anyone in Ohio, please be sure they receive it....no president has ever won without winning Ohio, they say - - so let's make sure they see this!     Please send it on....

Why Mitt Romney is Unlikable
(OK – I’ll tell you up front, this is pro-Romney)

A lot is being said in the media about Mitt Romney not being "likable" or that he doesn't "relate well" to people. Frankly, I don’t understand why.

Perhaps it is for the following reasons.

Top Ten Reasons To Dislike Mitt Romney:

1. Drop-dead handsome with gracious, statesman-like aura. Looks like every central casting's #1 choice for Commander-in-Chief.

2. Been married to ONE woman his entire life, and has been faithful to her, including through her bouts with breast cancer and MS.

3. No scandals or skeletons in his closet. (How boring is that?)

4. Has a track record of successful leadership.  Believes in our country, and is willing to provide his leadership skills to help get us back on track.

5. Highly intelligent. Graduated cum laude from both Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School...and his academic records are NOT sealed.

6. Doesn't smoke or drink alcohol, and has never done drugs, not even in the counter-culture age when he went to college.

7. Represents an America of "yesterday", where people believed in God, went to Church, didn't screw around, worked hard, and became a SUCCESS!

8. Has a family of five great sons....and none of them have police records or are in drug rehab. They were raised by loving parents, with their mom being a stay-at-home mom.

9. Oh yes.....he's a MORMON. They teach their members to be clean-living, patriotic, fiscally conservative, charitable, self-reliant, and honest.

10. And one more point.....pundits say because of his wealth, he can't relate to ordinary Americans. I guess that's because he made that money all by HIMSELF.....as opposed to marrying it or inheriting it from Dad.

Apparently, he didn't understand that actually working at a job and earning your own money made you unrelatable to Americans.

My goodness, it's a strange world, isn't it?

Personal Information:

Full Name is: Willard Mitt Romney

Born: March 12, 1947 (currently 65 years old)

His Father: George W. Romney, former Governor of the State of Michigan

Raised in:  Bloomfield Hills, Michigan

Married: to Ann Romney (since 1969); they have five children.

Education:
B.A. from Brigham Young University,
J.D. and M.B.A. from Harvard University

Religion: Mormon - The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints

Working Background:
After high school, he spent 30 months in France as a Mormon missionary.

After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School simultaneously, he passed the Michigan bar exam, but never worked as an attorney.

In 1984, he co-founded Bain Capital a private equity investment firm, one of the largest such firms in the United States.

In 1994, he ran for Senator of Massachusetts and lost to Ted Kennedy.

He was President and CEO of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.

In 2002, he was elected Governor of the State of Massachusetts where he eliminated a 1.5 billion deficit.

Some Interesting Facts about Romney:

Bain Capital, starting with one small office supply store in Massachusetts, turned it into Staples; now over 2,000 stores employing 90,000 people.

Bain Capital also worked to perform the same kinds of business miracles again and again, with companies like Domino's, Sealy, BBBrookstone Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group, Dollarama, Home Depot Supply and many others.

He was an unpaid volunteer campaign worker for his dad's gubernatorial campaign 1 year.

He was an unpaid intern in his dad's governor's office for eight years.

He was an unpaid bishop and state president of his church for ten years.

He was an unpaid President of the Salt Lake Olympic Committee for three years.

He took no salary and was the unpaid Governor of Massachusetts for four years.

He gave his entire inheritance from his father to charity.

Mitt Romney is one of the wealthiest self-made men in our country but has given more back to its citizens in terms of money, service and time than most men.

And in 2011 Mitt Romney gave over $4 million to charity, almost 19% of his income. Just for comparison purposes, Obama gave 1% and Joe Biden gave $300 or .0013%.

Mitt Romney is Trustworthy!
Mitt Romney's background, experience and trustworthiness show him to be a great leader and an excellent citizen for President of the United States.
We need his fiscal responsibility and vast management experience.

We won't like all the things necessary to recover from this debt, but someone with Romney's background can do it.

***That is where the forward I received ended....but I want to add just a bit more!  First is a disclaimer:   I don't like tongue-in-cheek digs directed at the President, even though they are true, so I edited them out.   I just don't like negative campaigns.  But  –  I also don't like being deceived, and we have been deceived over and over and the evidence is all available to be cited....

I have been stymied by why the media says Mitt Romney has a likability issue.  After watching the first of the debates, I found him to be engaging and forthright, and very likeable.  But  – even if he weren't, if I look at the stats side by side, I see him as abundantly more qualified for the office – and that's what I want:  someone who has had the experience he offers to lead this country!   I just hope we aren’t too late to put things in reverse.

Even if he weren't so affable, my choice would be the man who will do the best job.  Many years ago I needed to see a surgeon.  I was told, "You have a choice.  You can go to Dr. A, who has absolutely no bedside manner, whom some patients have said is rude to them  – but who is the best there is at what he does  –  or, if you need a warm, fuzzy Dr. who will hold your hand and comfort you, you can go to Dr. B, who will do precisely that."  While I do enjoy the camaraderie that can develop in the basic General Practitioner doctor-patient relationship, when it comes to the serious stuff, when it comes to surgery and someone prowling around inside me, I want the one who is best at doing the job.   I chose Dr. A!

President Obama is a charming speaker - - but he is not the best man for the job.

Mitt Romney is as American as apple pie.  He is a poster child for living  the American dream that we can be anything we set our minds to.  He worked to get where he is – and he has the skill and knowledge to give America another chance.   If we don't take that opportunity, I believe our fate is sealed to enter a downward spiral that will destroy the country we so dearly love, and lead us to a path of imminent destruction.

Fiscal responsibility is a must to run any household.  You cannot spend money you don't have....   The same principle holds true for the country.  Both parties share some of the guilt of where we are today – but the extreme imbalance started after the Democrats became the majority in Congress 2 years before Bush left the presidency.  And – we were enmeshed in war and had Hurricane Katrina and other disasters that contributed to draining the coffers.   That is not a ‘party’ issue – it’s just a reality of what life has been.

That being said, President Obama promises things he cannot deliver without having free access to your wallet!  And that is self-defeating.  We were not established to be a Socialist nation – but that is where we will be entrenched if we have the most liberal Democrat ever for 4 more years….  Socialism isn’t working out so well for Europe.  Why would we want to mimic them?

And, the following is well worth noting when considering character:

THIS IS A STORY CONCERNING MITT ROMNEY’S ‘PERSONALITY’ AND CHARACTER AS IT HAS BEEN CIRCULATED VIA E-MAIL:

(Email text contributed by J. Moore, Feb. 2, 2012J

On Mitt Romney's character....

Sometimes this facet of Romney’s personality isn’t so subtle.

In July 1996, the 14-year-old daughter of Robert Gay, a partner at Bain Capital, disappeared. She had attended a rave party in New York City and gotten high on ecstasy. Three days later, her distraught father had no idea where she was.

Romney took immediate action. He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find Gay’s daughter. Romney set up a command center at the LaGuardia Marriott and hired a private detective firm to assist with the search. He established a toll-free number for tips, coordinating the effort with the NYPD, and went through his Rolodex and called everyone Bain did business with in New York, and asked them to help find his friend’s missing daughter.  Romney’s accountants at Price Waterhouse Cooper put up posters on street poles, while cashiers at a pharmacy owned by Bain put fliers in the bag of every shopper. Romney and the other Bain employees scoured every part of New York and talked with everyone they could – prostitutes, drug addicts – anyone.

That day, their hunt made the evening news, which featured photos of the girl and the Bain employees searching for her. As a result, a teenage boy phoned in, asked if there was a reward, and then hung up abruptly. The NYPD traced the call to a home in New Jersey, where they found the girl in the basement, shivering and experiencing withdrawal symptoms from a massive ecstasy dose. Doctors later said the girl might not have survived another day. Romney’s former partner credits Mitt Romney with saving his daughter’s life, saying, “It was the most amazing thing, and I’ll never forget this to the day I die.”

So, here’s my epiphany: Mitt Romney simply can’t help himself. He sees a problem, and his mind immediately sets to work solving it, sometimes consciously, and sometimes not-so-consciously. He doesn’t do it for self-aggrandizement, or for personal gain. He does it because that’s just how he’s wired.

Many people are unaware of the fact that when Romney was asked by his old employer, Bill Bain, to come back to Bain & Company as CEO to rescue the firm from bankruptcy, Romney left Bain Capital to work at Bain & Company for an annual salary of one dollar. When Romney went to the rescue of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, he accepted no salary for three years, and wouldn’t use an expense account. He also accepted no salary as Governor of Massachusetts.

Character counts!! (and yes...that's worth reading again!)

FOR THOSE WHO NEED AFFIRMATION OF THE FACTS, THE PERTINENT FACTS OF THE ABOVE-RELATED STORY ARE TRUE, AS CORROBORATED BELOW BY URBAN LEGENDS,  CITING COMMENTS BY MITT ROMNEY AND THE FATHER OF THE GIRL:

Mitt Romney's Character - Urban Legends
http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/mittromney/a/Mitt-Romneys-Character.htm?r=et

Analysis: Apart from a dollop of hyperbole and a few minor details that conflict with contemporary press reports (most notably the claim that the missing girl was suffering from serious drug withdrawals and "might not have survived another day" if she hadn't been found when she was), this account comports with the known facts.

On the night of July 6, 1996, 14-year-old Melissa Gay, daughter of Bain Capital executive Robert Gay, went missing after attending a late-night rave in New York City. Gay recruited his business partners, including Mitt Romney, and the Boston-based firm's 200 employees to help him conduct a city-wide search.

"And so I said," Romney recalled when asked about the incident during a town hall meeting in March 2012, "‘Let’s close the firm, let’s close the company. Let’s all of us fly down to New York and try to find her.’ And so we closed the business, we went home and packed our things, we got a hotel near the airport where we all went to, we set up a headquarters, we met with the detectives with the New York City Police Department, we hired a private investigative firm to help guide us through this process."

Gay, Romney, and team literally fanned out on the streets of Manhattan in suits and ties, distributing 300,000 fliers and asking passersby point-blank if they had seen the missing girl. Their efforts quickly paid off in the form of a phone call from a private residence in Montville, New Jersey, where it turned out Melissa was staying with acquaintances. She was retrieved by police and reunited with her parents in the early morning hours of July 12.
"She's OK," Robert Gay said in a statement to the Associated Press. "How can you ask for anything more than that?"

In a 2008 campaign video for his friend and former business partner, Gay described Romney's role in the rescue effort as follows: "My business partner stepped forward to take charge. He closed the company and brought almost all our employees to New York. He said, `I don't care how long it takes. We're going to find her.' He set up a command center and searched through the night. BEAUTIFUL FALL COLORS - BUT WE NEED RAIN!

This weekend I attended a 'Girlfriend's Getaway' Retreat for the women of the church I attend - Faith Assembly of Lacey.  It was a good retreat - with wonderful bonding opportunities and great times of prayer and hearing from the Lord.  Along the journey home, I noticed how spectacular the Fall colors are this year - - and this tree in front of my house proclaims that, so I am sharing it!   I didn't take many pics over the weekend - - most are just of the indoor rock climb (which I posted on Facebook).  But after I had been home  for a couple of hours and I noticed how gloriously beautiful this tree is, which is out by the tractor at the entrance to our circular drive, I grabbed my camera and headed out for a picture postcard shot!

This is the longest dry spell ever recorded in Western Washington for as long as records have been being kept.  We have had no significant measurable precipitation in Olympia since +-July 20.  The info online says there was a trace on July 22, and .04 inches total in August....which must have been condensation from fog, because we certainly didn't have anything dripping off of the rail on the deck, which is how we identify measurable or memorable precipitation!  Multiple times rain has been promised in the long-range forecast, only to have it altered by the time the date arrived, with rain-producing clouds veering off to the north steered away from us by prevailing winds.

Forest fires popping up as close as Shelton, where trees are more accustomed to the threat of root rot from soggy feet, brings the threat of risk all too close to home!  We have expected the fires for Central Washington where trees have been killed in massive numbers because of a beetle infestation - - deaths preventable by spraying to kill the beetles, which foolishly was not done.  But that's another soapbox!

But Western Washington - - the epitome of green for the Evergreen State - - has never been more at risk in all of recorded history.  We expect earthquakes.  We don't expect tinder-dry conditions that can wipe out forests in moments, with healthy trees bursting into flame!  None of us want to complain about having too much beautiful weather!  This is an unusual, but primarily welcome, event!  But we need rain!  There I said it!  But until it comes - - enjoy!  Soak up the sunshine and the Vitamin D!  And when the rains return, rejoice!

Spiritually I see the long span of dry weather like a mountain top experience, when we feel so incredibly blessed by the sunlight of God's love  - - but we need the valleys in life to develop tenacity, fortitude,  endurance, faithfulness in spite of circumstances.  That's when we grow!

I love looking out my window and seeing the sun, but I realize how much we need the rain.  We need balance.  We need both!

Holy Spirit, rain down.

Why to REJECT R-74

During the 2012 Legislative Session, the Legislature of the State of Washington passed a bill redefining marriage and legalizing same-sex marriage.   Thanks to a robust signature-gathering campaign, an opportunity to either affirm or reverse that decision is going to the voters in the coming General Election.  Nearly 250,000 Washingtonians signed petitions against that bill – and the next step, if you want to protect the definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman, is to Reject Referendum 74 on the November ballot.

If you vote ‘yes’ on R-74 you support same-sex marriage.  If you vote ‘no’ you are against same-sex marriage.  That is the voting guideline in a nutshell.  Just think R = Reject to keep it straight.

Referendum 74 will not grant same-sex couples any new benefits.  Same-sex couples in Washington already enjoy full legal equality.  In 2009, voters approved an "Everything but Marriage" law.  This means same-sex couples in Washington already enjoy every legal right and obligation as opposite-sex couples. There are no exceptions.  The ads being played that imply people are not being called to a loved one’s hospital bedside could happen no matter what law is passed, but the right to be there has already been established.

Marriage is not a civil right.  If it were, every young person who yearns to be married but has not found a mate would be being violated.  The effort to term this a civil rights issue is preposterous.  On the other hand, if the bill is passed, every service business who might be asked to be involved – including wedding locations, photographers, food service providers, etc – would be in violation of the ‘law’ if they decline services based on their moral belief that marriage is only between a man and a woman – and more specifically, between one man and one woman!

R-74, if passed, will redefine marriage for everyone. If marriage is redefined, the new definition will become the sole definition of marriage for everyone. There will no longer be a distinction between husband and wife.  Everyone in Washington will be legally bound to the new definition of marriage or face legal consequences. The consequences for those who refuse to provide services if they don’t agree with same-sex marriage are absolutely unjust, as has been demonstrated already in other states.

The Washington State law as written offers limited protection to religious leaders who choose not to perform such ceremonies – but not to other businesses, and not to individuals who maintain the truth of what the Bible and other religious documents teach.
I function with a ‘live and let live’ philosophy, but this law won’t.  If this law is passed, injustice will come for those whose views are based on moral objection and those who adhere to what the Bible teaches.  They will suffer.   This is not a good law.  It needs to be rejected.  Please vote to Reject – 74.

I cite the following instances to demonstrate how others’ rights are being violated for their choice of not participating in providing services for same-sex unions:

August 23, 2012
MONTPELIER, Vt. — Two New York women and a Vermont country inn have settled a lawsuit that accused the business of refusing to host the couple's wedding reception.

The American Civil Liberties Union said Thursday the Wildflower Inn in Lyndonville agreed to pay a $10,000 civil penalty to the Vermont Human Rights Commission and to place $20,000 in a charitable trust.
Under the settlement, the inn also agreed it would no longer host weddings and their receptions. The innkeepers' lawyer, Jim Campbell, said they had decided previously to end that part of their business.
"We're glad that the Wildflower Inn has recognized that the way we were treated was wrong and that no other family will have to experience what we did," said Ming Linsley in a statement released by the ACLU. "Although we found a different location and had a beautiful day, all families should feel welcome at any resort that's open to the public."

The ACLU said Ming Linsley and Kate Linsley contacted the civil rights organization after Ming's mother was told by the inn's events manager that the inn didn't host "gay receptions" because of the innkeepers' "personal feelings."

But Campbell, a lawyer for innkeepers Jim and Mary O'Reilly, said Thursday the inn was willing to host same-sex wedding receptions, despite the O'Reillys' opposition to same-sex marriage, based on their Catholic faith. Campbell, who works with the Alliance Defending Freedom, said an employee was acting without the owners' permission when she emailed Ming Linsley's mother, rejecting the request.

(The above is not the entire article – but provides the basic facts.  My belief is that the suit was unjust.   It is not a civil rights issue.  It is a moral issue.  The ACLU is wrong. )

And another similar report from a national Christian Coalition site:

March 8, 2011 - 2:50pm — Religious Rights Watch
Once you start down the path of redefining marriage to include anything other than the exclusive union of a man and a woman, it's not long before those who firmly disagree with that redefinition begin to see their values come under assault.  And that is just what has happened in Illinois.

Christian bed and breakfast owners are being sued by homosexuals for not allowing the use of their facilities for a gay "civil union" ceremony.  And since (as of this June) the state of Illinois legally allows such unions, the complaint is over discrimination, and the Illinois Attorney General's office is investigating.

From the story:
The owner of the first B&B, the Beall Mansion of Alton, Ill., had told the complainant, Todd Wathen of Mattoon, IL, that they only let out their premises for weddings. The Christian owners of the second, Jim and Beth Walder of TimberCreek Bed and Breakfast of Paxton, had a similar response.

In the course of e-mail correspondence with Jim Walder, Wathen argued: “starting June 1st, a civil union is a wedding, you have to get a licenses at the county clerks office, it is just not a marriage ... but a legal wedding ... so aren’t you discriminating against me and my partner, because of our sexual orientation??”
Walder, father of five, explained that he would not host such ceremonies “even if they become legal in Illinois.”

“We believe homosexuality is wrong and unnatural based on what the Bible says about it,” he said. “If that is discrimination, I guess we unfortunately discriminate.” ...

Of course this wasn't good enough for the homosexual partners-to-be.  Just like (seemingly) everyone else in America who doesn't get their way, they threatened to take legal action and take their case to the state's Human Rights Department and claim discrimination based on sexual orientation.  They replied by saying that the business owners should "keep their opinions to themselves".  What they really mean is to keep the expression of their Christian values to themselves.

The story points out that owners of bed and breakfasts have been targeted in the England for years, facing legal challenges and even fines for sticking to their Christian convictions.  And other participants in the wedding business, such as photographers, are also coming under attack.

A related article on the story notes how the "couple" in question shopped around to numerous venues, contacting many that had not problem hosting the event, until they found two that refused out of moral principle.  Then they went legal.  In other words, you have a case of liberals looking to use the judiciary to punish Christians for their values.

It's bad enough for a state to grant any sort of legal recognition to homosexual relationships, but it is quite another to threaten legal action (and someone's livelihood) for refusing to accommodate it.  But this is what follows when you give in to the basic premise of legal recognition to begin with.

In other words, it's not, as gay marriage supporters would have people to believe, all about their "right" to love whomever they wish, because attendant to granting any such "right" is (eventually) a demand on the rest of the public.  Legal recognition is de facto government approval.  And that results in someone else's rights, in this case religious rights, being discriminated against. *

Their aim is to make it unacceptable (and in some cases illegal) to disapprove of or judge them in any way.  At the end of this slippery slope, expressing or living in accordance with your faith will be against the law.
But they knew that when they proposed the law to begin with.

(Highlighting and underlining are mine.)

If I, as a straight person, went into a business run by someone who chose not to serve me because of my beliefs, I’d just go find someone else who would.  I would not hold it against them.  I prefer to go where I am wanted!

One of the huge problems with all of this is that the homosexual community wants recognition and acceptance of their lifestyle as an affirmed, equal alternative.  I am willing to ‘live and let live’, but homosexuality is not equal in God’s eyes no matter what they call it – and His view matters.  He loves all people, but he does not love their sin.  But the good news is:  He died for our sin – and He will forgive anyone who comes humbly to Him and asks!

I previously wrote about R-74 on March 23, 2012.
