Day 11 SLOT CANYON TRIP: JUNE 3, 2011

Today was a slot canyon day! Our first canyon was Upper Antelope Canyon near Page, Arizona. This area is owned by one family of the Navajo Tribe. When land was divided up into sections and divvied out, they were the lucky ones who got this piece of land.

We traveled out a wide wash until we came to the opening. We signed up for the 'photo tour' which cost a little more, but our guide, Kobe, made sure we got to the right spots at the right times to get shots of the rays that come into the canyon during the time we were there.... The light shafts were beautiful. Then, to make them more apparent - and interesting, Kobe threw dust into the beams to make 'ghosts' which gave the photographers lots of opportunity to get a variety of shots. I took 1079 pictures that day. The pictures in this post are from Upper Antelope, which is the most visited slot canyon, with a few hundred others there while we were....
